Great.com interviews Swanland Village School About Educating Impoverished Children
Danielle Riberio from Great.com interviewed Swanland Village School as part of their 'Great.com Talks With...' podcast. This series is an antidote to negative news stories that aims to shed light on organizations and experts whose work is making a positive impact on the world.
Swanland Village School Is Building a Hope for a Brighter Future for Kenyan Children
Education is essential to support children living in poverty. These children can achieve amazing things if they are given the means to learn and develop essential skills. But, unfortunately, that's not easy to do. Fortunately, there is a way to give children a brighter future.
We are an education project run by the original staff of Swanland School Nairobi and local nonprofit organizations. Our school officially opened in January 2012 and currently has 160 children. The children are from the poor areas of Ngando village and from single partner/foster care homes. These children have never had previous education, and many live off the streets to survive. Our school aims to provide children with education to help them hope for a brighter future.
Educate. Hope
Our school supports children and education projects in rural areas and slums around Nairobi. We have several activities such as education projects, feeding programs, giving uniforms, giving books, nurturing talent, and donating to the needy. We achieve all this by partnering with nonprofit organizations to fund day-to-day operations. Our goal is to give children living in poverty access to quality education.
